Nebraska State Requirements
Professional Engineers
The state requirements for Nebraska Professional Engineers are provided below:
Biennial by December 31 as follows:
- Odd years for engineers whose last names begin with one of the letters A through K
- Even years for engineers whose last names begin with one of the letters L through Z
The State Board does not pre-approve continuing education courses. You must select a course activity that meets your State Board criteria.
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of engineering and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Of the 30 PDHs required:
- A minimum of 1 PDH must be earned in engineering ethics/professional conduct.
A maximum of 7.5 PDHs in non-live interactive online courses may be earned each renewal period.
CED's Live Webinars will satisfy the requirement of obtaining the remaining PDH's through live interaction type instruction. (NE Board Rule 9.3.1.1 clarifies that web-based course offerings, such as live webinars, led by an instructor that enables both the instructor and attendees to give, receive, and discuss information in real time are not restricted under Rule 9.3.1.)
A maximum of 15 PDHs may be carried over into the next renewal period.
Professional Land Surveyors
The state requirements for Nebraska Professional Land Surveyors are provided below:
Biennial by April 1 of odd years
The State Board does not pre-approve continuing education courses. You must select a course activity that meets your State Board criteria.
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of land surveying and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Of the 30 PDHs required:
- A minimum of 2 PDHs must be earned in land surveying ethics/professional conduct; or
- A minimum of 2 PDHs must be earned in the NE Land Surveyors Regulation Act.
A maximum of 15 PDHs may be carried over into the next renewal period.
