Michigan State Requirements
Professional Engineers
The state requirements for Michigan Professional Engineers are provided below:
Biennial based on the licensee's original date of licensure
The State Board does not pre-approve continuing education courses. The Michigan Licensing Board states that "The department shall grant credit for in-person or online continuing education hours [for] completing a continuing education program or activity related to professional engineering that is approved or offered for continuing education credit hours by another state's board of engineers".
CED is an approved sponsor/provider in the States of Florida, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey and New York.
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of engineering and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Of the 30 PDHs required:
- A minimum of 2 PDHs must be earned in engineering ethics/professional conduct.
There are no limitations on the number of PDHs earned online. However, a maximum of 12 PDHs may be earned during a 24-hour period.
Professional Land Surveyors
The state requirements for Michigan Professional Land Surveyors are provided below:
Biennial based on the licensee's original date of licensure
The State Board does not pre-approve continuing education courses. The Michigan Licensing Board states that "The department shall grant credit for continuing education hours [for] completing a continuing education program or activity related to professional surveying that is approved or offered for continuing education credit hours by another state board of professional surveyors".
CED is currently planning on seeking sponsor/provider approval with other State Licensing Boards.
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of land surveying and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Of the 30 PDHs required:
- 2 PDHs must be earned in land surveying ethics/professional conduct.
