Indiana State Requirements

Professional Engineers


The state requirements for Indiana Professional Engineers are provided below:

PDH's Required:
30
Renewal Period:

Biennial by July 31 of even years

Course Pre-approval:
The State Board automatically approves courses offered by approved educational or technical organizations. 

CED is an Indiana-approved continuing education sponsor/provider; therefore, courses taken with CED will be automatically approved by the Indiana Licensing Board.
Sponsor Pre-approval:
The State Board requires pre-approval of continuing education sponsors/providers.

CED is an Indiana-approved continuing education sponsor/provider.
Course Applicability:
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of engineering and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
 

Of the 30 PDHs required:

  • A minimum of 1 PDH must be earned in engineering ethics/professional conduct; and
  • A minimum of 1 PDH must be earned in IN engineering statutes and rules.
Online PDH's:

There are no limitations on the number of PDHs earned online.

PDH Deferral:
A maximum of 15 PDHs may be carried over into the next renewal period.

Professional Land Surveyors


The state requirements for Indiana Professional Land Surveyors are provided below:

Renewal Period:

Biennial by July 31 of even years

Course Pre-approval:
The State Board requires pre-approval of continuing education courses.

CED is currently planning on seeking course approval with the Indiana Licensing Board.
Sponsor Pre-approval:
The State Board requires pre-approval of continuing education sponsors/providers.

CED is currently planning on seeking sponsor/provider approval with the Indiana Licensing Board.
Course Applicability:

The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of land surveying and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.

Of the 24 PDHs required:

  • A minimum of 6 PDHs must be in mandatory topics as defined in Section 6 of 865 IAC 1-15; and
  • A minimum of 18 PDHs must be in elective topics as defined in Section 7 of 865 IAC 1-15.
Online PDH's:
A maximum of 12 PDHs may be obtained by distance learning methods.
PDH Deferral:
A maximum of 4 PDHs may be carried over into the next renewal period.
