This online engineering PDH course provides information on the current and projected trends in Air Conditioning (AC) systems and the precautionary measures to be taken to overcome the future global warming impact due to an increased global AC usage. 

 

An estimated 15% of the global population has air conditioning, providing comfortable indoor temperatures and high indoor air quality. However, in many regions, AC is increasingly becoming a humanitarian necessity as a result of increasing global temperatures. The rapidly growing demand in AC will cause further climate change unless governments, businesses and organizations take necessary steps to reduce the direct and indirect impacts from AC usage.

 

For the past hundred years, AC systems operated using vapor-compression cycles, having refrigerants as the working fluid. However, the global warming potential of today’s refrigerants are thousands of times higher than those used in the past. Therefore, the latest research studies and the newly developed technologies tend to reduce direct climate impact through the reduction or elimination of refrigerants altogether, and the indirect impact through improved energy efficient systems.

 

This 7 PDH online course is applicable to mechanical and HVAC engineers as well as others interested in learning more about the future of AC systems and the technologies that aim to reduce the projected global warming impact resulting from an increased demand in AC systems.
