Wisconsin State Requirements
Professional Engineers
The state requirements for Wisconsin Professional Engineers are provided below:
Renewal Period:
Biennial by July 31 of even years
Course Pre-approval:
The State Board does not pre-approve continuing education courses. You must select a course activity that meets your State Board criteria.
Sponsor Pre-approval:
The State Board does not pre-approve continuing education sponsors/providers.
Course Applicability:
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of engineering and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Of the 30 PDHs required:
- A minimum of 2 PDHs must be earned in engineering ethics/professional conduct.
Online PDH's:
A maximum of 17 PDHs may be earned online (via distance or internet on-demand courses) each renewal period.
CED's Live Webinars will satisfy the requirement of obtaining the remaining PDH's through live interaction type instruction.
PDH Deferral:
A maximum of 15 PDHs may be carried over into the next renewal period.
Professional Land Surveyors
The state requirements for Wisconsin Professional Land Surveyors are provided below:
Renewal Period:
Biennial by January 31 of even years
Course Pre-approval:
The State Board automatically accepts courses from pre-approved continuing education sponsors/providers. You must select a course activity that meets your State Board criteria.
CED is currently planning on seeking sponsor/provider approval with the Wisconsin Licensing Board.
Sponsor Pre-approval:
The State Board requires pre-approval of continuing education sponsors/providers.
CED is currently planning on seeking sponsor/provider approval with the Wisconsin Licensing Board.
Course Applicability:
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of land surveying and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Of the 20 PDHs required::
- A minimum of 2 PDHs must be earned in the WI statutes and rules that regulate professional land surveyors and surveys;
- A minimum of 2 PDHs must be earned in professional conduct and ethics; and
- A minimum of 2 PDHs must be earned in the area of professional land surveying or related sciences.
Online PDH's:
There are no limitations on the number of PDHs earned online.
PDH Deferral:
No PDHs may be carried over into the next renewal period.
