Professional Engineers
The Washington State Board currently does not mandate continuing education requirements for Washington Professional Engineers.
Professional Land Surveyors
The state requirements for Washington Professional Land Surveyors are provided below:
PDHs Required:
15 PDHs per year (total of 30 PDHs per renewal period)
Renewal Period:
Biennial based on the licensee's birth date
Course Pre-approval:
The State Board does not pre-approve continuing education courses. You must select a course activity that meets your State Board criteria.
Sponsor Pre-approval:
The State Board does not pre-approve continuing education sponsors/providers.
Course Applicability:
The course or educational activity must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of land surveying and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
- All licensed professional land surveyors must attest to reading Chapters 58.09 RCW (Survey Recording Act) and 332-130 WAC (Minimum standards for land boundary surveys and geodetic control surveys and guidelines for the preparation of land descriptions) at the time of renewal.
Online PDHs:
There are no limitations on the number of PDHs earned online.
PDH Deferral:
A maximum of 15 PDHs may be carried over into the next renewal period.
