Mississippi State Requirements
Professional Engineers
The state requirements for Mississippi Professional Engineers are provided below:
Biennial by December 31 based on the licensee's original date of licensure
The State Board does not pre-approve continuing education courses. You must select a course activity that meets your State Board criteria.
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of engineering and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Of the 30 PDHs required:
- A minimum of 1 PDH must be earned in engineering ethics/professional conduct.
There are no limitations on the number of PDHs earned online. A maximum of 8 PDHs may be earned per 24-hour period.
A maximum of 15 PDHs may be carried over into the next renewal period. However:
- Excess PDHs earned in engineering ethics may not be carried forward.
Professional Land Surveyors
The state requirements for Mississippi Professional Land Surveyors are provided below:
Biennial by December 31 based on the licensee's original date of licensure
The State Board does not pre-approve continuing education courses. You must select a course activity that meets your State Board criteria.
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of land surveying and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Of the 24 PDHs required:
- 1 PDH must be earned in MS Standards of Practice annually if licensed in MS for 5 years or less; or
- 1 PDH must be earned in MS Standards of Practice every renewal period if licensed in MS more than five (5) years; and
- A minimum of 1 PDH must be earned in land surveying ethics/professional conduct every renewal period.
A maximum of 12 PDHs may be carried over into the next renewal period. However:
- Excess PDHs earned in MS Standards of Practice may not be carried forward.
- Excess PDHs earned in land surveying ethics may not be carried forward.
