Louisiana State Requirements
Professional Engineers
The state requirements for Louisiana Professional Engineers are provided below:
Biennual by March 31 and September 30 based on the original date of licensure
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of engineering and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Of the 15 PDHs required per calendar year:
- Professional Engineers (in any disicpline) must earn a minimum of 1 PDH in engineering ethics/ professional conduct per calendar year.
- Professional Engineers (in building design and construction) must earn a minimum of 4 PDHs in life safety, building codes or ADA guidelines per calendar year.
There are no limitations on the number of PDHs earned online. However, Professional Engineers may not earn more than 8 PDHs within a single calendar day.
Professional Land Surveyors
The state requirements for Louisiana Professional Land Surveyors are provided below:
Biennual by March 31 and September 30 based on the original date of licensure
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of land surveying and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Of the 8 PDHs required per calendar year:
- A minimum of 1 PDH must be earned in land surveying ethics/professional conduct per calendar year; and
- A minimum of 1 PDH must be earned in the LA Standards of Practice for Boundary Surveys per calendar year.
