Kansas State Requirements
Professional Engineers
The state requirements for Kansas Professional Engineers are provided below:
Biennial by April 30 as follows:
- Even years for engineers whose last names begin with one of the letters A through L.
- Odd years for engineers whose last names begin with one of the letters M through Z
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of engineering and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Of the 30 PDHs required:
- A minimum of 24 PDHs must be related to the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
CED's on-demand continuing education programs, including Online Courses (document-based), Video Presentations and Interactive Courses, are considered "Correspondence Courses" as they are prepared in-line with Clause 20a of the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions Continuing Education Guidelines as follows:
- Our courses include study material, final graded test, and a certificate of completion;
- Our system generates receipts of purchase and email confirmation of registrations; and
- Our Users can interact with our instructors via email, ensuring that no queries are left unanswered.

There are no limitations on the number of PDHs earned online.
Professional Land Surveyors
The state requirements for Kansas Professional Land Surveyors are provided below:
Biennial by March 31 as follows:
- Even years for land surveyors whose last names begin with one of the letters A through L.
- Odd years for land surveyors whose last names begin with one of the letters M through Z
CED is currently planning on seeking course approval with the Kansas Licensing Board.
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of land surveying and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Of the 30 PDHs required:
- A minimum of 24 PDHs must be related to the health, safety, property and welfare of the public; and
- A minimum of 2 PDHs must be earned in A minimum of 2 PDHs must be earned in a preapproved continuing education course related to the Kansas minimum standards adopted by reference in K.A.R. 66-12-1(b).
