Florida State Requirements
Professional Engineers
The state requirements for Florida Professional Engineers are provided below:
Renewal Period:
Biennial by February 28 of odd years
Course Pre-approval:
The State Board requires pre-approval of the FL Ethics, Laws and Rules course only. However, the State Board automatically accepts courses from pre-approved continuing education sponsors/providers. CED's FL Ethics, Laws and Rules course is Florida-approved.
Sponsor Pre-approval:
TheThe State Board requires pre-approval of continuing education sponsors/providers. CED is a Florida-approved continuing education provider.
Course Applicability:
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of engineering and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Of the 18 PDHs required:
- 1 PDH must be earned in the FL Laws and Rules for professional engineers; and
- 1 PDH must be earned in professional ethics.
Online PDH's:
There are no limitations on the number of PDHs earned online.
PDH Deferral:
No PDH may be carried over into the next renewal period.
Professional Land Surveyors
The state requirements for Florida Professional Land Surveyors are provided below:
Renewal Period:
Biennial by February 28 of odd years
Course Pre-approval:
The State Board automatically accepts courses from pre-approved continuing education sponsors/providers. You must select a course activity that meets your State Board criteria.
Sponsor Pre-approval:
The State Board requires pre-approval of continuing education sponsors/providers. CED is currently planning on seeking sponsor approval with the Florida Licensing Board.
Course Applicability:
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of land surveying and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Online PDH's:
There are no limitations on the number of PDHs earned online.
PDH Deferral:
A maximum of 12 PDHs may be carried over into the next renewal period.
