Delaware State Requirements
Professional Engineers
The state requirements for Delaware Professional Engineers are provided below:
Renewal Period:
Biennial by June 30 of even years
Course Pre-approval:
The State Board does not pre-approve continuing education courses. You must select a course activity that meets your State Board criteria.
Sponsor Pre-approval:
The State Board does not pre-approve continuing education sponsors/providers.
Course Applicability:
The course must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of engineering and necessary to safeguard the health, safety, property and welfare of the public.
Of the 24 PDHs required:
- Between 2 to 6 PDHs must be earned in professional ethics or professional conduct.
- A maximum of 9 PDHs may be earned in project management or business skills.
Online PDH's:
There are no limitations on the number of PDHs earned online.
PDH Deferral:
No PDHs may be carried over into the next renewal period.
Professional Land Surveyors
The state requirements for Delaware Professional Land Surveyors are provided below:
Renewal Period:
Biennial by June 30 of odd years
Course Pre-approval:
The State Board requires pre-approval of continuing education courses.
CED is currently planning on seeking course approval with the Delaware Licensing Board.
Sponsor Pre-approval:
The State Board requires pre-approval of continuing education sponsors/providers.
CED is currently planning on seeking sponsor/provider approval with the Delaware Licensing Board.
Course Applicability:
The course must cover land surveying topics and must directly contribute to accomplishment of the primary purpose of continuing education, which is to help assure that licensees possess the knowledge, skills and competence necessary to function in a manner that protects and serves the public interest. The knowledge or skills taught must enable licensees to better serve surveying clients and the subject matter must be directly related to the land surveying practice.
Online PDH's:
A maximum of 8 PDHs may be earned online.
PDH Deferral:
No PDHs may be carried over into the next renewal period.
