Component And Cladding Wind Design Using ASCE/SEI 7-22

This online engineering PDH course examines the design of Component and Cladding (C&C) wind pressures for buildings with mean roof heights above 18.3 m (60 ft) under ASCE/SEI 7-22 Chapter 30.
C&C design determines the localized wind pressures that act on individual building-envelope elements such as curtain-wall mullions, glazing, roof components, and parapets, as distinct from the global loads used for the Main Wind Force Resisting System (MWFRS).
For taller buildings, the engineer must account for height-dependent velocity pressure, localized wall and roof zones, effective wind area, internal pressure, and the load path of each component, because a single envelope pressure can be unconservative.
This course covers the complete wind-design basis, velocity-pressure profiles, effective wind area selection, wall Zones 4 and 5, flat-roof uplift pressures, and the Chapter 30 Part 4 parapet provisions, all applied to an integrated 48.8 m (160 ft) office-building case study. It also explains how to consolidate the results into traceable C&C pressure schedules for façade, roofing, and delegated-design coordination, and highlights common design-review issues.
This 5 PDH online course is applicable to structural and civil engineers, as well as other technical professionals who are interested in learning more about Component and Cladding wind design for buildings above 60 ft.
This PE continuing education course is intended to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Familiarizing with the applicability of ASCE/SEI 7-22 Chapter 30 Part 2 to C&C design
- Understanding the wind-design basis, exposure, and internal pressure
- Understanding the development of height-dependent velocity-pressure profiles
- Explaining the calculation of C&C pressures for mullions, glazing, roofs, and parapets
- Understanding the application of an integrated C&C workflow from wind criteria to final pressures
- Familiarizing with the preparation of C&C pressure schedules for delegated-design coordination
In this professional engineering CEU course, you need to review the course document titled, “Component And Cladding Wind Design Using ASCE/SEI 7-22”, prepared by Ibrahim Metwally.
Once you complete your course review, you need to take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of twenty-five (25) questions to earn 5 PDH credits. The quiz will be based on the entire document.
Upon successful completion of the quiz, print your Certificate of Completion instantly. (Note: if you are paying by check or money order, you will be able to print it after we receive your payment.) For your convenience, we will also email it to you. Please note that you can log in to your account at any time to access and print your Certificate of Completion.
