Colorado State Requirements
Professional Engineers
The Colorado State Board currently does not mandate continuing education requirements for Colorado Professional Engineers.
Professional Land Surveyors
The state requirements for Colorado Professional Land Surveyors are provided below:
Renewal Period:
Biennial by October 31 of odd years
Course Pre-approval:
The State Board does not pre-approve continuing education courses. You must select a course activity that meets your State Board criteria.
Sponsor Pre-approval:
The State Board does not pre-approve continuing education sponsors/providers.
Course Applicability:
The course must be relevant to the profession of land surveying which are defined as technical and professional subjects related to land surveying and consist of basic surveying, boundary law, description writing, public land survey system, and surveying sciences.
Land surveying sciences include, but are not limited to:
- Construction staking, hydrographic surveying, photogrammetry, topography, laser scanning, and LiDAR.
Online PDHs:
There are no limitations on the number of PDHs earned online.
PDH Deferral:
A maximum of 15 PDHs may be carried over into the next renewal period.
