UV Lamps in Air Circulating Ductwork

COURSE NO: M04-003
PDH CREDIT: 4
UV Lamps in Air Circulating Ductwork
Course Highlights

This online engineering PDH course describes the basic issues related to UV air disinfecting in air ductwork and the installation parameters that impact the effectiveness of UV lights in air ductwork.  Considerations regarding the effectiveness of UV lights with respect to germicidal irradiation to deactivate viruses, mycloplasma, bacteria and fungi.

In today's complex buildings it is imperative that the HVAC engineer have a basic knowledge of all of the options available to provide an environment suitable to the concerns of the building owner and occupants.  These include comfort, indoor air quality, terrorist attacks through the ventilation system, etc.  Ultraviolet (UV) lights have been used to disinfect room air streams as far back as 1900 but have become more and more popular due to recent realizations the UV can be effective against infections diseases and some potential terrorist chemical attacks.

This 4 PDH online course is applicable to mechanical engineers, design and construction personnel, technical staff and facility personnel who are interested in gaining a better understanding of the effectiveness of UV Lamps installed in circulating air ductwork.
