Kirchhoff Laws of Electrical Circuits
Course Highlights

This live PDH webinar is on the two fundamental laws of electrical circuits known as Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law (KVL) and Kirchhoff’s Current Law (KCL), collectively known as Kirchhoff’s Circuit Laws. Stated in 1845 by the physicist Gustav Kirchhoff, these two laws along with Ohm’s Law form the cornerstones of the electrical network theory.

This webinar, through slides, discussions and several well-chosen examples, explains the two Kirchhoff circuit laws and shows how they can be applied in conjunction with Ohm’s Law to determine the voltages across and currents through elements of electrical circuitry. These laws are general and apply to both DC and AC circuits. Examples of application to both types of circuits are given along with a comprehensive, step by step solution of each. A quick review of Ohm’s Law is provided as well.

From my years of experience in teaching electrical networking, I have come to identify the aspects of application of these laws that students have found to be somewhat challenging as they are first introduced to the subject. In this webinar, my emphasis is on correct application of the laws to problem solving and avoidance of the most common pitfalls.

This 1 PDH live webinar is intended for anyone who is interested in learning about the most basic fundamentals of electrical networking theory and would serve as an excellent starting point for future more advanced study of the subject of electrical networks.

Learning Objectives

This PE continuing education course is intended to provide you with specific knowledge and skills needed to:

  • Understanding the most fundamental laws of electrical circuits, namely KVL, KCL and Ohm’s Law
  • Learning how to apply KVL, KCL and Ohm’s Law in analyzing AC and DC circuits
  • Learning how to find voltages and currents of resistors in DC circuits
  • Learning how to find voltages and currents of impedance elements in AC circuits
How it works

Therefore, to get connected, you will need a computer with high-speed internet as well as microphone and speaker capabilities. We recommend using a headset connected to your computer for enhanced audio quality.

Alternatively, if your computer is not equipped with a microphone and speakers, you need to dial in using a phone line. From the webinar access and completion instructions, you will be also provided with a dial-in number to join the webinar and listen in. Furthermore, you will be provided with a link to download the webinar handout, or you can download it directly from you account, in the event you are unable to view the webinar on your computer screen.

Regardless of the connection method used, you will have the opportunity to interact with the instructor at the appropriate times either way. We recommend that you connect to the webinar approximately 10 to 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.

Certificate of Completion (PDH Credit)

Following attending the webinar, you need to return to the CEDengineering.com website and log in to your account to complete and submit the feedback form. Once submitted, we will email you your Certificate of Completion. You can also download it instantly, or at anytime, from your account where all your PDH records are kept for your convenience at all times.
