Course Highlights

The online engineering PDH second course (Part 2), which is presented as CED Course M02-045, describes the analysis of the system, and system safety considerations.  It includes an Excel spread sheet for the analysis of viscous and dynamic pressure loss.  A methodology for the use of this spread sheet is also presented.

 

In writing this review course, the reader is envisioned as the practicing engineer who has been given the task of designing a hydraulic system for a new piece of mobile equipment.  It is assumed that the engineer has a good foundation in general engineering principles and simply needs a brush-up on applied fluid flow principles and an introduction to the unique considerations of hydraulic control systems.  Equations required for analysis are presented, but not derived.

 

The review is presented in two courses.  This first course (Part 1) reviews hydraulic fundamentals, hydraulic end devices (the muscle of the system), and valves (the system control), including feedback control system stability.  Equations describing the performance of end device are presented.  Each course also includes a list of selected resources.
