Smart Fluids

COURSE NO: T06-006
PDH CREDIT: 6
Smart Fluids
Course Highlights

This online engineering PDH course provides a comprehensive overview of smart fluids and their dynamic adaptability and responsiveness in engineering systems.

Smart fluids, also known as field-responsive fluids, represent a category of modern materials whose physical properties can be rapidly altered through the application of external stimuli such as electric fields, magnetic fields, or temperature changes.

Their tunable behavior for damping, actuation, sensing, and energy absorption, together with their responsiveness and adaptability, makes them key enablers in several sectors, including automotive engineering, civil infrastructure, aerospace, and robotics.

This course covers the rheology and physical behavior of smart fluids, magnetorheological and electrorheological fluids, thermoresponsive and pH-sensitive fluids, and nanotechnology in smart fluids. It also emphasizes engineering applications, design and integration challenges, modeling and simulation, testing and standards, and future trends and research frontiers.

This 6 PDH online course is applicable to mechanical and civil engineers, as well as other technical professionals who are interested in learning more about field-responsive materials and the integration of smart fluid technologies into dynamic systems.
