Reservoir Screening for CO2 Sequestration

COURSE NO: P05-002
PDH CREDIT: 5
COURSE PROVIDER: James Weaver, P.E.
Reservoir Screening for CO2 Sequestration
Course Highlights

This online engineering PDH course provides an overview of how to screen reservoirs for CO2 sequestration.

This course provides instructions to estimate volumes of CO2 that may be sequestered in abandoned natural gas reservoirs and in aquifers. Since limited information is available on many abandoned natural gas reservoirs, an additional portion of the course will show how to estimate CO2 sequestration in those instances.

This 5 PDH online course is applicable to petroleum, chemical, and geological engineers who are involved with CO2 sequestration projects.
Learning Objectives

This PE continuing education course is intended to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:

  • Learning about the importance of screening to a CO2 sequestration project
  • Familiarizing with the basic CO2 properties, and the Ideal Gas Law
  • Knowing how to calculate reservoir volumes, and the gas formation volume factor
  • Understanding the meaning of standard conditions, and critical pressure and temperature of natural gas
  • Learning how to estimate the gas deviation factor for natural gas, and the volumes available for CO2 sequestration in an aquifer
  • Estimating the volume of CO2 in the reservoir at sequestration pressure using detailed reservoir information
  • Estimating the volume of CO2 sequestered in a reservoir using limited information
  • Calculating the CO2 sequestration volume at standard conditions

Course Quiz
Once you complete your course review, you need to take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of twenty-five (25) questions to earn 5 PDH credits. The quiz will be based on the entire document.
The minimum passing score is 70%. There is no time limit on the quiz, and you can take it multiple times until you pass at no additional cost.
Certificate of Completion

Upon successful completion of the quiz, print your Certificate of Completion instantly. (Note: if you are paying by check or money order, you will be able to print it after we receive your payment.) For your convenience, we will also email it to you. Please note that you can log in to your account at any time to access and print your Certificate of Completion.
