Course Highlights

This online land surveying PDH course examines the statutory frameworks, professional standards, and disciplinary rules governing land surveying practice in the State of Illinois.

This course explores the regulatory authority of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) and the Land Surveyors Licensing Board, including their roles in professional licensure, enforcement, and disciplinary actions. It examines the Illinois Professional Land Surveyor Act of 1989 (225 ILCS 330) and 68 Ill. Adm. Code Part 1270, with particular emphasis on the minimum standards governing boundary surveys, professional conduct, surveying documentation, monumentation, plats, seals, and professional responsibilities.

Furthermore, this course examines the requirements applicable to boundary surveys and other land surveying services, including the collection and evaluation of evidence, field procedures, preparation of plats and legal descriptions, monumentation, accuracy requirements, and compliance with Illinois minimum standards of practice. By reviewing actual Illinois disciplinary actions and enforcement cases, the course provides practitioners with practical insight into common violations and the professional and regulatory consequences of non-compliant surveying practices.

This 4 PDH online course is applicable to professional land surveyors licensed in Illinois who are required to demonstrate continuing professional competency in land surveying standards as a condition for their license renewal.
