Evaluation of Urban Soil Suitability

COURSE NO: C03-076
PDH CREDIT: 3
COURSE PROVIDER: Jeelan Moghraby, Ph.D.
Evaluation of Urban Soil Suitability
Course Highlights

This online engineering PDH course provides an overview of the evaluation of urban soils to determine their suitability for two critical applications: green infrastructure and urban agriculture.

At urban sites, it is important to evaluate soil quality, composition, and potential contaminants that may impact a project’s success and adversely affect human health. The condition of the urban soil will influence the selection of suitable plants and vegetation, taking into account their tolerance to the urban conditions such as pollution, drought, and compacted soils. Soil amendments and management practices are usually necessary at urban sites to improve soil quality and mitigate limitations so as to support plant growth.

This 3 PDH online course is applicable to civil and environmental engineers as well as other technical professionals involved in green infrastructure and urban agriculture projects.

Learning Objectives

This PE continuing education course is intended to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:

  • Understanding the importance of conducting soil evaluations in green infrastructure and urban agriculture projects
