Ethical Use Of Agentic And Generative AI In Engineering

COURSE NO: LE2-027
PDH CREDIT: 2
COURSE PROVIDER: Brian Lisiewski, P.E.
Ethical Use Of Agentic And Generative AI In Engineering
Course Highlights

This online engineering PDH course provides an introduction to agentic and generative artificial intelligence (AI) and their ethical use across the major engineering disciplines.

Generative AI creates content such as reports, images, and design options, while agentic AI goes further by making decisions and taking actions on its own. As these tools enter everyday engineering practice, engineers must make sure that their use protects public health, safety, and welfare.

This course covers the definitions and differences of agentic and generative AI, common AI use cases in civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, software, and environmental engineering, and real-world examples that highlight ethical considerations. It also explains how to apply the engineering Code of Ethics to AI use, how engineers remain in responsible charge and keep professional accountability for all AI-assisted work, and best-practice guidelines for ethical AI integration.

This 2 PDH online course is applicable to professional engineers in nearly all engineering disciplines, as well as other technical professionals who are interested in learning more about the ethical use of AI in engineering practice.
