Well Site Pneumatic Control

COURSE NO: P03-007
PDH CREDIT: 3
COURSE PROVIDER: David Simpson, P.E.
Well Site Pneumatic Control
Course Highlights

This online engineering PDH course reviews the basic concepts and calculations used in well site pneumatic control of process parameters. Process control engineering is a fairly narrow field of study that has long suffered from inconsistent terminology among practitioners.

Since 2011, natural gas actuated pneumatic controls equipment has been a focus for regulators seeking to reduce the release of actual pollutants and so-called greenhouse gases (GHG). The historical use of inconsistent key terms, even among experts, has led to regulations that are at odds with the realities of existing equipment. The intention of this course is to present a rigorous set of terms and operational classifications that can help establish a framework of knowledge consistent with how this equipment functions.

The course also examines the role of pneumatic control devices within modern oil and gas operations, highlighting their continued prevalence despite the growing adoption of advanced low-power electronic actuator technologies. By developing a solid understanding of pneumatic control systems and their applications, this course evaluates equipment performance, supports compliance efforts, and makes informed decisions regarding operation, maintenance, and technology selection in well site environments.

This 3 PDH online course is applicable to mechanical and petroleum engineers, as well as other technical professionals involved in well site design and equipment selection.
