Use of Excel Graphics for Enhanced and Interactive Process Flow Diagrams
This engineering online PDH course will establish, through text, illustrations and hands-on exercises, the details of the art of creating customized process flow diagrams, linked to process calculations, for instant updating.
Process Flow diagrams (flowsheets) are the essential single document to define any chemical process in a single view. They must be as understandable as possible to a wide variety of readers. They generally use semi-standardized symbols for process equipment items, but can as realistic as desired. They are generally created separately from the numerical tables, and must be updated manually, except in costly process design software packages. With some individual creativity, they can be works of art.
This 5 PDH online course is intended for primarily chemical or process design engineers, creating initial flowsheets suitable for internal communication between design team members and management, that automatically update with process calculations, and can be refined for final release/presentation – all requiring only Microsoft Excel, rather than costly process design software.
This PE continuing education course is intended to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Mastering under-utilized graphics capability of Microsoft Excel
- Designing more visually informative PFDs
- Linking process calculations directly to continuously update PFDs
- Making PFDs more visually Informative for presentations
