Overview of Foundry Processes and Technologies: Manufacturing Metal Castings
Course Highlights

This online engineering PDH course will provide you a detailed outline of cast materials, casting methods, and techniques. You will learn about advantages of casting, metal melting and pouring.

A vibrant, competitive and energy-efficient U.S. metal casting industry is vital to the U.S. economy and national security.  Cast metal products are found in virtually every sector of the economy. Almost 90 percent of all manufactured products contain one or more metal castings. Metal casting enables the production of simple to complex parts that meet a variety of needs. The process consists of pouring molten metal into a mold containing a cavity of the desired shape.

This 2 PDH online course is applicable to engineers, design and research personnel, and other technical professionals who are interested in gaining an understanding of metal casting methods, cast materials, as well as safety and environmental concerns in foundries. The course is well-illustrated and includes photos, engravings, and flow-charts.
